The Modern Mamahood Vegan Jumpstart

Hey guys! So some of you know from Instagram that I recently made the transition to a fully vegan diet. It’s been over a month now that I’ve had no animal products, and I feel amazing. I’ve had a lot of questions about how to get started eating vegan, so I was super stoked to catch up with my friend Natalie Schwartz, blogger at The Modern Mamahood, certified health coach and creator of this awesome Vegan Jumpstart Meal Plan!

Preparing and cooking vegan food doesn’t have to be intimidating or time consuming. As mama to a little one, Natalie knows all about surviving on iced coffee, chardonnay, and dry shampoo (can I get an Amen?) In creating this meal plan, she had the busy modern woman in mind, and all the recipes are super easy and delicious! If you’re considering the transition to vegan, she has great articles on way to cut meat and how to cut dairy from your diet.

I caught up with Nat to see what gets her stoked and what motivated her to start her awesome brand, The Modern Mamahood!

What is unique or special about you/your brand?

The Modern Mamahood is for the modern mother who uses wine and coffee to get her through her day and has a good sense of humor with the occasional swear word or two! TMM is a place for a mom to come and be authentically and unapologetically herself. It’s also a place where you can get healthy lifestyle tips and tons of yummy EASY to make vegan recipes, because the last thing a mom has time for is  cooking a meal that takes an hour. Motherhood is not easy and I strive to create a space and community where we can come together and life each other up, bitch together, and have a virtual glass of wine together. There’s so much strength in community versus competition.

What are five things that get you totally stoked – things you can’t live without?

  1. 8 hours of sleep!
  2. Lipstick
  3. Buttery chardonnay
  4. Exercise
  5. Iced Coffee
What made you realize that you were destined for your current path in wellness?
I lost my best friend to cancer in my early twenties and since then I was set on this path of seeking wellness for myself and those around my through food. I became a certified health coach and switched my diet to eating only vegan. I thrive off of sharing healthy real food recipes with the world.
Ok Nat, so what’s your spirit animal?
Definitely either a cute puppy or Chelsea Handler.
What’s the Modern Mamahood Mission?
To inspire and and be inspired. To raise my son as a kind and compassionate individual who will in turn share his compassion with the world around him, all living beings – including animals.
