#MermaidYogis Day 18: Cobra

Cobra pose is easily the most underrated backbend, in my humble opinion. This backbend-meets-chest opener is a beautiful way to stretch the chest while strengthening the shoulders and arms.

Cobra Pose:

  1. Begin in a prone position, lying on the belly with hands palms down beneath the shoulders.
  2. Hug elbows into the ribcage. Inhale and raise head, shoulders, and chest.
  3. Hold for five breaths, then exhale and slowly release.

For more challenge, walk your hands closer to your body and engage the knees and thighs away from the floor while straightening the arms for upward facing dog. To see a video tutorial, head on over to YouTube or Instagram!
